The popular US-based exchange Coinbase has announced that they will begin using SegWit “in the next few weeks.” SegWit is an optional feature added to the Bitcoin protocol last fall that allows more transactions to occur simultaneously on the Bitcoin network. As more exchanges and wallets adopt SegWit, Bitcoin users will see faster transactions and lower fees. Since Coinbase is a major exchange, its implementation of SegWit should help ease network congestion significantly.
