The primary goal of the Interledger project is to enable its customers to exchange crypto of any platform without having to set up a lot of wallets for different coins.

Initially, Interledger was meant to be a universal platform for smart contracts (SC). The so-called Connectors would help users to use a SC made with Ethereum on any other Blockchain. This feature, the creators believe, will allow customers to convert coins by the same principle that P2P exchanges use. Thus, any sender of ETH will be able to transact it to an XRP wallet with no trouble.
