The creators of the Zulu Republic project have launched a lite.im Telegram bot to expand its community and let anyone use Litecoin as widely and easily as possible. It takes the simplest mobile phone, even if it is not Internet-connected. From now on, people in all corners of the world can use Telegram or SMS to conduct LTC transactions, as long as there is a cellular around.

Telegram selected

The authors of the project seem to have chosen this messaging app, since it is widely accepted by the crypto community and also because it provides a great proof of concept sandbox for trialing this new technology before taking it to the SMS base. Telegram allows users to test it in a well familiar environment.

Besides, Telegram bots make crypto transactions for users very easy. Also, the privacy aspects of the messenger have, probably, been taken into account.

Good old SMS

Even the most technically advanced nations still have spots where the Internet connection is poor or unavailable at all, especially in rural areas. The lite.im bot will enable anyone to send Litecoin to users who do not have an LTC-wallet or if you do not have their wallet address. Or even if the recipient has no idea how to use crypto, it will not be a problem if SMS is engaged.

The project creators intend the Telegram bot to be used mostly in countries with autocratic regimes of power and where the citizens are deeply involved with the traditional financial system. The same goes for war zones with bad Internet connection.

Besides, out of the whole world population, as statistics shows, only 34 percent use smartphones, and around 64 percent still make calls through simple mobile phones, even with the 21st century outside. This means that SMS is a foolproof method for these people to send and receive LTC.

How this will operate

The Lite.im bot will enable users to use Litecoin services via textual commands via the backend LTC API system provided by Zulu.

So far only the Telegram option is available. The SMS platform is being prepared. All transactions will be protected with RSA encryption and a private password the user creates.
