Unidentified hackers have blocked all the computers at Bucharest’s District 1 City Hall and asked the authorities to pay a ransom in Bitcoin, local news reported on Monday, Oct. 15.

The cyber attack took place through an infected email. Dan Tudorache, the mayor of District 1, said the hackers demanded a large sum in Bitcoin. However, nearly half of the computers has been freed by the City Hall’s IT team, and he expected all the computers would be functional by the end of this week.

Last year, the hackers also attacked the District 1 City Hall but failed to get the ransom.
