It is not just Vitalik now but Dr. Buterin, and the recognition came from the University of Basel, Switzerland’s oldest educational institution. The initiator was the Faculty of Business and Economics, in particular.
The degree was granted for Vitalik’s fruitful effort in enhancing the development of the blockchain industry at the Dies Academicus event – a celebration of the university’s founding that takes place every year on a Friday.
Game changer
The Dean of the Faculty of Business, professor Berentsen, proudly stated that the innovations introduced by Vitalik are “game changing” and that his achievements are truly remarkable and inspire others scientists working in this sphere. Buterin was also characterized as a truly creative thinker and innovator who is one of the leaders of the current digital revolution.
As per Berentsen, among Vitalik’s interests are game theory, governance, and economic incentives, which is in line with the spheres the faculty and the local Centre for Innovative Finance teaches.
At the age of 19, Vitalik, as was mentioned at the ceremony, published an important scientific article about smart contracts and decentralized apps – “Ethereum: A Next Generation Smart Contract & Decentralized Application Platform”. This work was released when Vitalik did not have any university degree, while Berentsen believes the article was quite innovative and crucial for decentralized software apps.
The editors at the office of U.Today send their congratulations to Dr. Vitalik Buterin with their best regards.
