The Wyoming Blockchain Stampede, composed of several events from Sept. 23-Oct. 24, will be livestreamed within a free virtual environment, uniting worldwide participants with thought leaders, legislators and change makers at the forefront of major impacts to the world’s future in blockchain technology, according to event organizers.

“The Wyoming Blockchain Stampede demonstrates our college’s culture of fostering entrepreneurship and innovation. We serve as a hub of learning, networking, mentorship and creativity to the benefit of UW and the state,” says Cameron Wright, interim dean of the UW College of Engineering and Applied Science. “By bringing together innovative blockchain pioneers from startups, the corporate world and government, we benefit from a synergy and collaboration that help us guide Wyoming’s economic development and foster innovative growth.”

Blockchain is a breakthrough database technology for storing information and has wide-ranging uses for managing various data and records, including cryptocurrency. The concept already has made its way into many UW departments and classrooms.

Caitlin Long, Wyoming Blockchain Stampede chair, praises Wyoming’s blockchain leadership.

“Wyoming demonstrated leadership by enacting 20 blockchain-welcoming laws during the past three legislative sessions, and the Wyoming Blockchain Stampede represents UW’s commitment to building on that leadership by creating a pipeline of entrepreneurs in Wyoming,” Long says. “This initiative has always been about jobs in Wyoming.”

All sponsorship proceeds from the Wyoming Blockchain Stampede will support the event and UW.

“The Wyoming Blockchain Stampede is a harbinger of Wyoming’s economic transformation rooted in blockchain, fintech and digital innovations as taught at UW; it shifts the base,” says Rich Kopcho, producer of the event.
