On Tuesday, Oct. 2, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued a patent to IBM for “secured event monitoring leveraging Blockchain.”
The patent outlines how a network of monitors can log events on the network, including possible intrusions, using Blockchain. “On a computer system or network, data may be monitored for many different purposes. Data monitoring may identify problems, observe conditions or track metrics by logging the events of a given computer system or network,” the patent states.
Such a system will ensure no change is made to one monitor without the validation from the other synchronized monitors. Using Blockchain in this way would, therefore, “create a less vulnerable network.”
