This week Mark Zuckerberg is expected to reveal details about his new brainchild – GlobalCoin pegged to a basket of fiat currencies, USD and EUR, perhaps a few others.

The presence of big-name investors intrigues the crypto community, as well as traditional investors.

Zuck’s modest ambitions in the crypto industry

Due to several scandals to do with user-data that Mark Zuckerberg and his social media giant have had, his intentions of penetrating the crypto sphere seem modest – no speculative coins are to be made.

All that he wants is a payment token for internal use within Facebook’s Messenger and Instagram and also possibly for payments for its new partners’ goods and services.

As U.Today reported previously, among the giants that have been named as investors of the Libra project are Uber, Spotify, eBay and several others.

Error 404

Today, a website calibra.com has been launched by the Libra project team. Probably it was meant to present the long-anticipated details about the GlobalCoin currency.

However, at the time of writing this the website is down, reporting error 404.
