Ripple triumphs as Judge Torres dismisses case against Garlinghouse and Larsen

Oct. 19, 2023, has all the chances to leave a mark on Ripple's history, as Judge Torres of the U.S. District Court in New York formalized dismissal of the charges by the SEC against Ripple's top executives, Brad Garlinghouse and Chris Larsen. On that day, the judge signed the order, thus putting an end to the regulator's claims against the company's leading figures. Soon after the decision became public, Garlinghouse took to X platform to share the news with his followers, celebrating yet another victory of Ripple and criticizing the SEC for wasting millions of taxpayers' money. The CEO then expressed his gratitude to "the best lawyers in the business," namely Stuart Alderoty, Deborah McCrimmon and Matt Solomon, for their support, "wisdom and friendship."

Bitcoin at $35,000: Peter Schiff predicts crash ahead of ETF verdict

Bitcoin, the largest crypto by market cap, saw its price spiking by 15% yesterday, reaching a new yearly high at $36,000. The flagship asset rode on the wave of two big pieces of news; first, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ordered the SEC to reconsider Grayscale's application to convert its GBTC fund into a Spot Bitcoin ETF. Second, the SEC approved Grayscale's application to launch a Spot Ethereum ETF. However, as optimistic as this news might be, it did not bring joy to prominent Bitcoin opponent Peter Schiff. In his recent X post, Schiff pointed at BTC's price of $35,000 and suggested that speculators are betting on the SEC's approval of Grayscale's GBTC conversion into an ETF. He then said that the conversion may mark the peak of BTC's price increase, if the asset does not sell off prior to approval. If the ETF conversion is rejected again, Schiff added, the sell-off will be less severe.
