Ripple donates $5 billion for blockchain innovation in APAC

In a recently published blog post, Ripple stated that it is doubling down on blockchain innovation in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) and has provided more than $5 million in funding for this through its global University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI).

Currently, APAC is a global digital finance hub with a large number of neobanks concentrated in that area. For more than seven years, UBRI has been supporting the education of the next generation of blockchain builders, entrepreneurs and researchers.

By now, Ripple’s innovative blockchain-powered payment solutions have processed more than $30 billion in transnational payments per year, surpassing conventional payment systems, such as SWIFT, offering faster and cheaper solutions.

Ripple’s UBRI program helps many APAC-based universities to explore new solutions that increase local and international adoption and the interoperability of blockchain. Therefore, Ripple here is helping to create new financial systems in APAC.
