Gate has officially introduced Hong Kong stock trading, broadening its equity offering beyond U.S. markets and giving users access to one of Asia's most important financial hubs.

Following an update to version v8.23.5 or later of the Gate App, users can access Hong Kong-listed shares through Gate Stocks and trade directly using USDT. The service is not available to Hong Kong users.

The setup eliminates the need for a traditional brokerage account and removes the requirement to convert funds into Hong Kong dollars before investing.

The launch represents the latest step in Gate's effort to combine digital assets and traditional financial markets within a single investment platform.

More than 1,000 Hong Kong stocks available

The initial rollout includes access to more than 1,000 companies listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, covering both the Main Board and Growth Enterprise Market (GEM).

Available securities include major regional companies such as Tencent Holdings, HSBC Holdings, Contemporary Amperex Technology, China Mobile, Xiaomi Corporation, Meituan, BYD Company, Ping An Insurance and AIA Group.

Gate said the list of available stocks will continue expanding based on market demand and regulatory considerations.

Unified Account Across U.S. and Hong Kong Markets

Hong Kong equities are integrated into the same stock account infrastructure already used for U.S. shares.

Users can transfer USDT from either their Spot Account or Unified Account into their Stock Account and begin trading without opening additional accounts.

While funding is handled through USDT, Hong Kong stocks are quoted and displayed in Hong Kong dollars (HKD). Portfolio values, market prices and profit-and-loss calculations are also shown in HKD.

Unlike U.S. stocks on the platform, Hong Kong equities are only available during standard market hours and do not support pre-market or after-hours trading.

Expanding beyond crypto

The expansion builds on Gate's existing U.S. stock trading business, which currently supports more than 10,000 stocks and ETFs listed across major venues including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Nasdaq, NYSE Arca, NYSE American and BATS.

Users can trade U.S. equities using USDT and purchase fractional shares starting from as little as 0.01 shares, lowering the capital requirements for accessing high-priced stocks.

Gate Stocks is also integrated with the platform's VIP program, which offers reduced trading fees and additional account services for qualifying users.

The addition of Hong Kong equities further strengthens Gate's push into traditional financial assets.

The company has already developed a broader investment ecosystem that includes pre-IPO opportunities, IPO access products and secondary-market stock trading.

By combining these offerings with cryptocurrency services, Gate aims to provide users with exposure to multiple stages of a company's lifecycle, from private-market opportunities through public trading.

The launch reflects a growing trend among digital asset platforms to expand beyond cryptocurrency trading and offer access to global capital markets.

With both U.S. and Hong Kong equities now available through a unified account system, Gate users can allocate capital across two major stock markets while continuing to manage digital assets on the same platform.

The company said future development will focus on expanding its global equity coverage, increasing the range of available traditional financial products and improving cross-market accessibility for investors seeking diversified exposure across asset classes.
