Flare has launched Smart Accounts (FSA) v1.3, introducing a streamlined process that enables XRP holders to mint FXRP and deposit it into yield-generating vaults using a single signature from their existing XRP Ledger (XRPL) wallet.

The update is designed to reduce the friction associated with bringing XRP into decentralized finance (DeFi). Previously, users typically needed to create an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) wallet, bridge assets between blockchains and acquire gas tokens before interacting with DeFi protocols.

Under the new system, users simply select a vault, sign a transaction with their XRPL wallet and let Flare complete the remaining steps automatically.

According to Flare, the process remains fully non-custodial, with users retaining control of their assets throughout.

XRPFi ecosystem continues to expand

The release comes as activity within Flare's XRPFi ecosystem continues to grow. Since February 2026, the amount of FXRP deployed across DeFi applications has increased by nearly 75%, rising from 82 million to 144 million FXRP.

Flare also reports that more than 40 million XRP is currently earning yield through Smart Accounts, while nearly 24,000 Smart Accounts have been created to date.

"Millions of XRP holders have wanted access to DeFi, but the experience has been too complex," said Filip Koprivec, Chief Product Officer at Flare. "With Smart Accounts v1.3, users can go from XRP to yield with a single signature while remaining fully non-custodial."

One signature replaces a multi-step process

One of the key changes in version 1.3 is the reduction of the onboarding process from two XRPL signatures to a single transaction.

The user's XRP remains secured on XRPL through FXRP's 1:1 collateral model. Once the transaction is signed, Flare mints the corresponding FXRP and deposits it into the selected yield strategy automatically.

The process relies on the Flare Data Connector (FDC), which verifies the XRPL transaction on Flare. After verification, a smart contract linked to the user's XRPL address executes the remaining actions without requiring additional user interaction.

The update also expands the available investment options by introducing the Clearstar Flare XRP Yield Vault, giving users a choice between two actively managed FXRP vaults.

The Monarq XRP Yield Vault, operated by Monarq, which is majority-owned by FalconX, combines multiple yield-generation strategies, including options trading, basis trading, funding-rate capture and on-chain DeFi opportunities. The allocation adjusts dynamically as market conditions change.

The newly launched Clearstar Flare XRP Yield Vault follows a fully on-chain strategy. It deploys FXRP across lending and liquidity protocols within the Flare ecosystem, including Avant and Euler.

According to Flare, every position remains publicly verifiable on-chain, while the strategy has previously managed deposits exceeding 33 million FXRP.

Broader wallet support

Flare is also expanding compatibility with additional wallets. Smart Accounts v1.3 now supports Ledger, Xaman, Joey Wallet and WalletConnect-compatible wallets, including Bifrost. These join existing support for D'CENT, allowing users to access Flare's yield infrastructure through wallets they already use.

As part of the rollout, Joey Wallet has integrated Flare Smart Accounts directly into its application as an embedded decentralized application (dApp). Users can mint FXRP and deposit assets into supported yield vaults without leaving the wallet interface.

"There's a lot of overlap between the XRPL and Flare communities, so integrating Flare Smart Accounts just made sense," said Christopher Troia, co-founder of Joey Wallet. "It brings a breath of fresh air for XRP holders, letting them start putting their XRP to work in a seamless way."

The latest release reflects Flare's broader effort to simplify access to DeFi for XRP holders by reducing technical barriers while expanding the range of supported wallets and yield strategies.

As XRPFi adoption continues to grow, the platform is positioning Smart Accounts as a bridge between the XRP Ledger ecosystem and decentralized finance without requiring users to leave their preferred wallets or manage additional blockchain infrastructure.
