In a recent development, Ripple has extended its blockchain partnership with a major research university in the United Arab Emirates, with the latest agreement set to take the collaboration through 2027.
Reacting to the milestone, Senior Executive Officer/Managing Director, Middle East & Africa at Ripple, Reece Merrick, said in an X post that he was proud to see Ripple's UBRI renewing its partnership with NYU Abu Dhabi through 2027.
NYU Abu Dhabi is a research university in the United Arab Emirates with a fully integrated liberal arts and science college. Given this, Merrick said it is especially meaningful to watch NYUAD continue to strengthen its role as a regional hub for blockchain research and talent development.
Merrick stated that the work led by Professors Raša Karapandža and Yaw Nyarko at CTED, including the expansion of the Volta Initiative and hands-on research on the XRP Ledger, was a great example of turning decentralized technology into real-world impact.
In this light, Merrick stated he was excited for the next chapter of innovation coming out of Abu Dhabi.
The University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI), launched by Ripple in 2018, continues to expand its global footprint, fostering a network of premier academic partners to drive pioneering research and foundational education in digital assets.
XRP millionaire cohort grows
According to the onchain analytics platform Santiment, XRP's millionaire cohort continues to grow. In this light, the XRP Ledger's 1 million-wallet cohort has added 32 wallets over 3 months. It noted that this is large-holder growth amid a -29% market cap decline.
This comes despite underwhelming price performance throughout the summer for XRP, while RLUSD has grown into a meaningful institutional stablecoin as Ripple's payments, custody, and tokenization rails keep the Ledger tied to settlement use cases.
When million-XRP wallets rise while market cap falls, stronger hands are absorbing panic and patience is replacing simple price-related hype, making future volatility more interesting for the bulls.
At the time of writing, XRP was up 1.02% in the last 24 hours to $1.02.
