Crypto trader DonAlt, known for his accurate 700% prediction of XRP price movement, named a technical target of $10,000 for Ethereum. However, he ironically admitted that he plans to close his own position much earlier, once ETH reaches $3,000.
During a discussion on X, the analyst revealed details of his current trading setup, demonstrating a skeptical attitude toward long-term five-figure targets.
According to DonAlt, he opened a long position in ETH at around $1,900 on Aug. 13. The trader admitted that buying at resistance in a consolidating market goes against classical technical analysis. However, the decision was driven by a psychological factor: "I am less comfortable having no position than having one at a less-than-optimal price."

He added that he was prepared to increase the size of his position if the price returned to the "green" support zone at $1,700 per ETH.
Lessons of the XRP Rally
Responding to questions from followers, the analyst divided his expectations into three levels. According to DonAlt, his official target is $4,000, while his unofficial macro target stands at $10,000. In practice, however, he intends to take profit at $3,000, thereby poking fun at his own trading discipline and the tendency to secure unrealized gains early.
DonAlt is widely known for his historical XRP call ahead of the 2024–2025 bull rally, when he successfully predicted the token's rise from $0.50 to $3.50. Notably, his maximum XRP target at the time was $6.90, but the price reversed before reaching it.
The analyst's latest comment clearly reflects that market experience. Even while allowing for a theoretical rise in ETH to five-digit levels, the experienced trader would rather secure a gain of approximately 57% than repeat the scenario of holding out for a historical target that is never reached.
