Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson reacted to Monero's recent launch of FCMP++ Stressnet. Full-Chain Membership Proofs (FCMP++) is described as the "next generation" of Monero's privacy.
Hoskinson describes this as a "massive deal" and a huge upgrade for Monero. The Cardano founder stated that he was proud of the Monero team for relentlessly building for all these years towards it.
The second testnet (beta stressnet) for Full-Chain Membership Proofs (FCMP++) and CARROT went live on May 6. At block 2,997,100, Monero reached a historic milestone with the launch of its "stressnet" for FCMP++ (Full-Chain Membership Proofs).
FCMP++ is a proposed upgrade to replace ring signatures with membership proofs that span the whole chain. When spending Monero, instead of making a ring signature to prove ownership of 1 of 16 Monero outputs, a proof of ownership is made for 1 of the 150 million+ Monero outputs from across the entire Monero blockchain.
CARROT is a proposed upgrade to Monero's addressing protocol, bringing new security, privacy, and usability features, while maintaining backward compatibility with existing addresses.
FCMP++ and CARROT have been in development for over 2 years, while research, security reviews, and audits have progressed in tandem. This beta stressnet will be the second live network testing the FCMP++ and CARROT integration, open to the public.
Cardano upgrade secures new milestone
Monero's upgrade coincides with the Cardano network itself preparing for the van Rossem hard fork. On May 5, the van Rossem hard fork reached a significant milestone, having been submitted to the Preview test network.
Intersect, a member-based organization in the ADA ecosystem, revealed in a recent announcement that the Cardano Preview testnet is currently poised to ratify the hard fork governance action at the next epoch boundary. This gives a tentative timeline of May 8 at 00:00 UTC.
In addition to Cardano Node 11.0.1 Pre-Release, DB-Sync 13.7.0.5 Pre-Release is now available. DB Sync 13.7.0.5 supports node version 11.0.1 as well as the Protocol Version 11 intra-era hard fork, and it is a minor fix and version update over 13.7.0.4.
