Bitget's Protection Fund recorded an average valuation of $382 million in August 2025, with a sharp rise in Bitcoin during the second half of the month increasing the U.S. dollar value of the exchange's BTC-denominated reserves.
Bitget's most recent Protection Fund report states that the fund peaked at $441.5 million on August 27, after hitting its monthly low of $345.3 million on August 1. Throughout the month, its valuation stayed higher than the initial $300 million level.
Bitcoin promotes the growth
Because the fund holds 5,500 BTC, the changes mostly mirrored the performance of Bitcoin's price. According to Bitget's daily fund data, Bitcoin traded between $62,773 and $80,268 in August.

Before picking up speed in the second half of August and briefly surpassing $80,000, Bitcoin started the month at $62,773. At $78,553 at the end of August, the cryptocurrency had risen more than 25% since August 1. Consequently, the Protection Fund's valuation at the end of the month was about $432 million.
The fund was created by Bitget in 2022 as a reserve meant to give users extra security in the event of severe market conditions or unforeseen events. Its dollar value varies in tandem with the market value of the reserve's holdings, especially Bitcoin.
Stable reserves for a stable exchange
Changes in the reserve can be monitored over time, thanks to the exchange's publication of data on the fund's holdings and valuation. Bitget's Proof of Reserves system, which shows whether the exchange has enough assets to cover customer balances, is distinct from the fund.
The August figures show how changes in cryptocurrency prices can affect protection reserves denominated in Bitcoin. Although the fund's holdings of Bitcoin stayed at 5,500 BTC, its dollar value fluctuated significantly throughout the month, rising from less than $63,000 to almost $80,000 per coin.
The update also coincides with Bitget's expansion into tokenized traditional financial assets, such as stocks, exchange-traded funds, commodities, and foreign exchange products, in addition to traditional cryptocurrency trading.
Reserve transparency and the capacity to confirm asset backing continue to be crucial elements of counterparty risk assessment as exchanges increase the variety of assets available on their platforms. In addition to its typical asset-backing structure, Bitget's Protection Fund serves as an extra reserve pool, but its dollar value is still subject to changes in the price of Bitcoin.
