Bitget, the world’s largest Universal Exchange (UEX), is marking its eighth anniversary with a broader push beyond cryptocurrency, positioning its Universal Exchange (UEX) strategy as the foundation for its next stage of development.
Over the past year, the exchange expanded its offering to include stock perpetual contracts, US stock options and Hong Kong stock Quanto contracts.
Non-crypto assets accounted for as much as 40% of its total trading volume during the period, while TradFi perpetual contracts and CFDs each surpassed $10 billion in daily trading volume.
The company has also continued developing its rToken product, which tracks traditional market assets through tokenized instruments.
According to Bitget, rToken surpassed $100 million in assets under management within five weeks of launch and has since recorded more than 3 million transactions. The exchange said roughly one in four new users now starts trading with rToken.
AI is another part of the platform's expansion. Bitget recently introduced AI Playbook, an autonomous trading agent designed to give users access to AI-assisted trading strategies.
"Eight years in crypto feels a lot longer than eight years anywhere else. We’ve lived through multiple cycles, watched entire narratives come and go, and seen the market grow up very quickly," said Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget. "The exciting part is that we’re still early in what trading can become. Crypto and traditional markets are converging, AI is changing the trading experience, and institutional participation is accelerating. UEX is our bet on where all of that is heading, and the next chapter for Bitget will be much bigger than crypto alone."

Security and institutional trading become priorities
The expansion into additional asset classes is also prompting Bitget to increase its focus on infrastructure, security and compliance. As part of its anniversary plans, the exchange said its Proof of Reserves coverage will grow from four assets to 24 verifiable assets.
Bitget also reported that its Protection Fund had an average valuation of approximately $382 million in August 2026. The company said security, market integrity and compliance remain priorities as the number and variety of assets available on the platform increase.
Institutional trading is expected to become a more significant part of Bitget's strategy during its ninth year. The exchange said net assets held by institutional clients increased 45% in Q2 2026 compared with the end of 2025. Its number of core active market makers also grew from 90 to 248 firms over the same period.
Bitget plans to continue investing in execution infrastructure, APIs and quantitative trading tools, institutional services and cross-asset account functionality.
The goal is to make it easier to trade different types of markets through a single platform rather than treating crypto and traditional assets as separate trading environments.
The anniversary will also be marked through the Bitget community, including KCGI 2026, which features a 3 million USDT prize pool, as well as VIP initiatives, product-focused community activities and events in multiple regions.
After eight years in the crypto market, Bitget is therefore entering its ninth year with a strategy that increasingly extends beyond digital assets.
Its UEX approach aims to bring crypto, traditional markets and AI-driven trading tools together under one platform, while the company's growing institutional business points to a greater focus on professional market participants.
