Richard Teng, who was appointed to take over Binance leadership from CZ in the fall of 2023, has addressed the global crypto community with a tweet that contains both an important warning and a major prediction about the future of cryptocurrency.
Binance CEO's warning about crypto
The Binance CEO has published his message in the form of an AI-generated image, showing a crowd of people rushing into a building with a board, saying “CRYPTO” and showing trading chart candles above the entrance.
“Sooner or later,” Teng's caption to this picture was, as he expects, mass retail adoption to take place in the near future.
The Binance community reacted to that X message enthusiastically, posting multiple responses. Teng replied to some of those comments, in particular agreeing that “crypto is the future.”
Teng predicts institutional adoption to surge next decade
Approximately two weeks ago, Teng made a similar prediction about the future of institutional crypto adoption.
In his tweet published on June 12, the Binance CEO stated that financial institutions have hardly any doubts about whether or not to invest in crypto assets. The question that many of them now face is not “whether” but how to do that in the best way.
Therefore, Teng concluded, all crypto investment tools for institutions, including spot and futures exchange-traded funds (ETFs), custody solutions and blockchain infrastructure for banks, hedge funds and so on, “is here to stay,” he believes.
Teng's forecast about the next 10 years for crypto and institutions is: “The next decade will be about integration at scale.”
In a recent interview with Anthony Pompliano, Binance cofounder Changpeng Zhao (known as CZ) shared a similar take about the inevitable growth of crypto adoption by institutions in the future and about a strengthening intersection between AI and crypto as well.
