The XRP Ledger ecosystem is currently counting down, with a key fix upgrade scheduled to go live in about two days.
According to XRPScan data, the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment is expected to go live this week, with the current countdown being 1 day and 23 hours.
The fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment achieved majority after validators voted on the change, reaching 85.71% consensus, and is expected to arrive on the XRP Ledger mainnet on July 29.
The XRP Ledger's amendment system uses the consensus process to approve any changes that affect transaction processing. Bug fixes that change transaction processes also require amendments. Validators then vote on these changes, with 80% support required for it to trigger an activation timer. Amendments must maintain two weeks of support from more than 80% of trusted validators to be enabled.
Barring an unexpected development, the fixCleanup3_2_0 upgrade will go live in less than two days, bringing important fixes to the XRP Ledger's Single Asset Vaults, the Lending Protocol, the permissioned DEX, Multi-Purpose Tokens, and permissioned domains.
Ripple strengthens XRPL security push
The fixCleanup3_2_0 upgrade comes on the heels of Ripple's security push for the XRP Ledger and follows fixCleanup3_1_3, a collection of fixes for NFTs, Permissioned Domains, Vaults, and the Lending Protocol, which was enabled on May 27.
Back in March, Ripple announced it was standing up a dedicated AI-assisted red team to continuously hunt for vulnerabilities in the XRP Ledger.
The XRPL 3.1.3 release, which included the fixCleanup3_1_3, was the first dedicated security release to come out of this effort. The XRPL version 3.2.0, primarily a cleanup and maintenance release launched in June, included more fixes from the backlog of confirmed findings, retiring amendments that have been activated for over two years, and introduced the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment.
According to RippleX developers, another XRPL software release v3.3.0 is expected in the coming weeks and will introduce Batch, Confidential Transfers (privacy), Sponsored Fees and Reserves, Permission Delegation, and Dynamic MPTs amendments.
