Christine Lagarde, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said in a CNNMoney interview on Sunday that global cryptocurrency regulation is “inevitable.” Regulation is necessary to combat issues regarding the illicit use of cryptocurrency for money laundering and financing terrorism. Lagarde has called for global cooperation in cryptocurrency regulation. The new comments may indicate a more active involvement in cryptocurrency by the IMF .
