Danish tennis star Caroline Wozniacki has teamed up with a Singapore-based startup GCOX that gives celebrities a possibility to manage their own cryptocurrency tokens — from creating to listing. Wozniacki told Reuters about how exciting it was to become the first female athlete with own token.

By becoming private investors in GCOX, these individuals tokenize their fame. GCOX has already attracted who’s who of the sport industry. Philippine boxing Manny Pacquiao, for instance, is going to launch his PAC coin in Q1 2019.

It is yet to be seen whether this project will succeed since the majority of the so-called “celebrity coins” turn out to be mammoth-size flops. Generally speaking, many ICOs turn out to be blatant scams, which prevents some football clubs from embracing crypto.
