A new proposal has been floated on the Bitcoin developers’ mailing list, suggesting the terms of Bitcoin’s software license be changed. The change would forbid any other project from using the word “Bitcoin” unless the project is fully compatible with Bitcoin Core. This controversial move is being mulled due to confusion in the marketplace over the numerous forks of Bitcoin, including Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, Bitcoin Diamond and others.
