France, Germany Call on G20 to Act on Cryptocurrencies

France and Germany have called for the G20 to discuss ways to deal with the rise of cryptocurrencies. In a letter sent to the president of G20, the countries pointed out that crypto “may [present] new opportunities” but that digital currencies also presented great risks as well. In particular, the letter cites the possibility of “substantial risks for investors” as well as “financial crime” and “risks in the field of financial stability.”
