Judging by Monday’s blog post of the Ethereum Foundation, the team in charge of grants has given away nearly $3 mln to various startups and single entrepreneurs working with the Ethereum Blockchain, in particular on improving scalability, usability or just creating new tools for developers.

Initially, the program of grants was targeted to underpin the development of the Ethereum network, ETH-based dApps and smart contracts.
The largest sums in grants were awarded to Status and Prysmatic Labs — they got $500,000 each — in order to develop Ethereum 2.0 clients.
