Several universities in China have been making an effort to patent Blockchain applications and technologies developed on their campuses. Two reports published on Feb. 16 and Feb. 23 respectively by the China State Intellectual Property Office indicate that Zhejiang University, Shenzhen University and Chinese Academy of Sciences have made efforts to obtain a patent for their Blockchain technologies. Zhejiang University is interested in patenting a cloud-based Blockchain platform that facilities cross-border transactions. The Chinese Academy of Sciences is interested in patenting an application that supports both public and private Blockchains for a large number of businesses and Shenzhen University is interested in patenting a proof of ownership/intellectual property application that is powered by the Blockchain.
