As of March 1, 2018, Australians were able to buy Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) from more than 1,200 newsagents located around the continent/country. A newsagency in Australia is similar to what we call a newsstand in New York; a small vendor located on a street that sells, newspapers, magazines, cigarettes and snacks. The cryptocurrency exchange Bitcoin.com.au has been implementing Bitcoin and Ether trading services in Australian newsagencies since 2016. On March 1st, Bitcoin.com.au allowed transactions at newsagencies to take place free of charge. However, newsagencies will be charging five percent on transactions from here on out.
